Odisha – The Pioneer

Pioneer in Reforms

Odisha is considered a pioneer in power sector reform in India, having initial ted a comprehensive restructuring program in 1993-94 to improve efficiency, enhance financial viability, and attract private investment.

The comprehensive reform program includes unbundling the state electricity board, privatizing generation and distribution, and establishing an independent regulatory commission. Thus, establishing a model that other states could replicate.

Powering Progress with a Greener Vision

Odisha proudly balances thermal, hydro, and solar power generation, while holding immense untapped potential for renewable energy development.

Blessed with abundant coal reserves ensuring reliable and affordable power, the State has also led in clean energy, introducing renewable power regulations as early as FY 2011–12.

Odisha ranks sixth in India for RPO compliance, exceeding the national average. With a clear vision, the State aims to shift its power mix from 55:45 (conventional to renewable) to 45:55 within a decade by expanding renewable capacity. Guided by innovation and commitment, Odisha is advancing toward a cleaner, sustainable energy future.

Odisha - Culture and Climate

Odisha’s Golden Triangle of Bhubaneswar, Puri and Konark blends culture, collaboration and climate leadership, offering inspiration beyond discussion

Puri, a spiritual and coastal city, symbolizes balance between faith, livelihoods and ecological stewardship

Bhubaneswar, India’s Temple City, is an emerging hub for clean energy and urban innovation

Konark, home to UNESCO World Heritage Sun
